KS3 Information

The Academy runs a two year key stage 3 curriculum with a total of approximately 540 year 7 and 8 pupils following a range of academic pathways, along with the opportunity to access a wealth of co-curricular activities.

Pupils access a fortnightly timetable with 50 periods across the fortnight.

Pupils are allocated to year group specific form groups, with extensive opportunity to challenge their moral code, cultural understanding and personal awareness through the Theme of the Fortnight programme.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum provides breadth and balance in the range of subjects that are offered. There is an explicit emphasis on the development of skills and mastery in order for young people to become life-long learners and consequently make a significant contribution to society.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum serves to build upon the skills and knowledge developed throughout pupil’s primary education and creates a solid foundation upon which to develop knowledge and key concepts as they move to Key Stage 4 and beyond.  The curriculum supports progression to the English Baccalaureate, whilst providing pupils with a range of other subject areas suited to their interests and broader development.

Pupils in key stage 3, whilst they currently do not currently access discrete ICT lessons, do approach key skills across the whole curriculum, developing their knowledge and application in subject specific contexts.
