Public Examinations provide vital summative assessment to ensure pupils, parents and other educational institutions have the necessary knowledge of the skills and understanding achieved. Examinations are generally sat at the end of the academic year though where appropriate pupils may be entered earlier to ensure they have opportunities to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Pupils are guided in their decisions about whether to withdraw from an early examination entry and do so with full knowledge of the implications for their careers or further education. Staff are well informed by robust assessment methods to support pupils in any decision making regarding examination entries. They fully understand their obligations and responsibilities in relation to giving pupils the best possible opportunities to demonstrate the highest achievement they are capable of.
In addition to external examinations, other internally set and marked examinations may take place at other stages in a pupil’s progress through the Academy, in order both to prepare for public examinations and check pupil learning.
