    Daily Routines

    We at the Hundred of Hoo have unshakably high expectations in all that we do and believe that readiness to learn starts when pupils line up in the playground at the start of the academy day. We ensure pupil safety and wellbeing promote an environment where pupils are alert and consistently ready to commence learning at any point during the academy day.

    Before arriving at school all pupils will:

    Primary

    1. Eat breakfast or leave home with enough time to eat at breakfast club
    2. 1 x water bottle – full
    3. Book Bag
    4. Home / Academy Link Book

    Secondary

    1. Eat breakfast or leave home with enough time to eat at breakfast club
    2. Make sure that all homework is complete
    3. Pack their bag with the following items

    Current reading book

    My Home Academy Link Book

    1 x clear pencil case with the following contents:

    2 x black or blue writing pens

    1 x red writing pen

    2 x highlighter pens

    2 x sharpened pencils

    1 x rubber

    1 x 12 inch ruler

    1 x scientific calculator

    1 x protractor

    1 x water bottle – full (No energy drinks)

    Books/folders for that day

    PE Kit if required

    White eraser fluid is not permitted at the Academy

    On arrival at the Academy all pupils will:

    1. Be in full uniform
    2. Remove any chewing gum from their person and dispose of it in the bin
    3. Line up in their year groups and tutor groups at 8.25am (Primary 8.40am) and have their uniform checked
    4. Expect to be sent home if not wearing the correct uniform. If we cannot contact your parents you will spend the day in the Leaning Support Unit
    5. Answer questions in full sentences
    6. Not have any fizzy drinks, sweets or chewing gum with them

    Walking around the Academy and moving to/from lessons:

    1. Follow instructions from any member of staff or adult first time
    2. Move to lessons once your teacher has dismissed you
    3. Allow any member of staff or adult to pass through a doorway before them
    4. Hold doors open for others
    5. Never run
    6. Walk on the left-hand side of the corridors and stairways
    7. Stay silent on corridors and never shout
    8. Maintain quiet and orderly atmosphere in the library

    All pupils will follow the same routines when entering the classroom:

    1. Pupils will line up in silence outside their classroom and have their books and equipment out, ready to enter the class
    2. The teacher will greet the pupils at the door
    3. All pupils will move silently and immediately to stand behind their allocated seat and put their equipment on their desk

    During a lesson all pupils will:

    1. Stand up in silence whenever a visitor enters the room
    2. Put their hand up and wait for permission before asking or answering a question
    3. Always speak in full sentences
    4. Be an active listener
    5. Celebrate the successes of others
    6. See mistakes as steps on the road to understanding
    7. Help maintain a supportive culture based on respect and teamwork

    Moving to and from assemblies/examinations:

    1. Pupils will line up in their year groups and form groups in alphabetical order, unless the form tutor/teacher decides to make changes
    2. Pupils will move in silence from line-up/classrooms to their destination
    3. Pupils will sit in silence unless directed to speak
    4. Pupils will remain standing in silence until directed otherwise
    5. At the end of the assembly, when the member of staff or other adult holding the assembly leaves the room, all Pupils will remain in silence whilst they are dismissed by their Head of Year or senior member of staff, one row at a time
    6. Form Tutors or teachers will sit either against the wall next to their form group or next to the aisle with their form group
    7. All teaching and support staff will attend whole school assemblies and awards ceremonies
    8. The pupils will then walk in silence to their next lesson
    9. Staff will go on to the corridor to ensure pupils walk quietly to their next lesson

    During break and lunchtime all pupils will:

    1. Use their break and lunch time effectively
    2. Drink some water
    3. Go to the lavatory
    4. Meet with any member of staff to address any concerns
    5. Complete any work or revision that is required
    6. Line up quietly outside the dining hall
    7. Say thank you to catering personnel
    8. Clear away your own tray, plate and cutlery and maintain an orderly environment at all times
    9. Only play ball games in the allocated areas
    10. Follow all Academy rules to maintain a calm and pleasant environment for all
    11. Do not gather in large groups
    12. Keep hands and feet to themselves at all times
    13. Do not wear any hood up. If a pupil is cold they should wear hats

    At the end of the Academy day all pupils will:

    1. Make sure they have everything they need to complete their homework
    2. Line up in their year groups and tutor groups
    3. Walk quietly through the Academy exits
    4. If getting public transport, wait quietly by the bus stop
    5. Get onto the bus one pupil at a time
    6. Give up their seat to a member of the public
    7. Talk quietly and never shout

    Out of Bounds areas:

    1. Pupils are permitted to be in their designated supervised areas only
    2. All internal areas are out of bounds to pupils with the exception of the canteen, designated year areas and toilet facilities
    3. Pupils are not permitted to move between year areas
    4. Packed lunches are permitted to be eaten in the year areas and playgrounds however, at the end of each break the area must be left clean and tidy. It is the responsibility of the duty team to enforce this
    5. Pupils are not permitted to walk around the site eating or drinking
    6. Pupils who wish to participate in ball games, music or any other extracurricular activity during lunchtime are to have ‘club cards’ as issued by the teacher running the club
